Friday October 5th, New Crop Calf / Yearling Beef Sale

Results from the Special Fall Roundup New Crop Calf/ Yearling Sale Friday October 5th.


Here this past Friday we had our first showing of  New Crop Calves to get a decent test and another really good run of Yearlings as we get ready to wind down on Green Yearling Cattle and roll into the New Crop Calves in full force the next weeks... Sellling 2,060
head total the New Crop Calves (729 )sold well considering the never ending nightmare of beyond wet weather we are and have been having with a big crop yet standing in the field and literally no new winter bedding made yet. 
It appears that the calf demand is gonna be pretty darn good once the most of the crop is finally in, the bedding is made and we get into some real numbers of calves to work with...
The Yearlings(1,331) trade on the fancy, green cattle coming off grass in nice bunches was full steam ahead as the numbers have dwindled across the country and the Yearling feeders continue to replace empty pens.. 
In your marketing decisions I would highly recommend keeping an eye on this weather, the harvest and hugely the bedding situation when trying to pick the best time frame to market New Crop Calves .. When the conditions of these elements become stable and nearly complete it is then the right time to start looking at marketing times.  Let's hope that's coming sooner than later. 
This coming Friday October 12th will be the Special Fall Roundup All Holstein Steer/Dairy Cross Feeder Cattle Sale starting at 9am sharp.
Our next Special Fall Roundup New Crop Calf/Yearling will be next Friday October 19th starting time 9am sharp.
