"SPECIAL COMBINATION HOLSTEIN STEER & BEEF NEW CROP CALF/YEARLING FEEDER CATTLE SALE"

SALE SUMMARY: Total Headcount: 1,890

  • 727 Holstein Feeder Cattle Sold
    •1,163 Beef Feeder Cattle Sold

Here this past Friday, we had the last of the 3 total Combination Feeder sales in the ?16/?17 Schedule.  Once we get to the summer schedule, we will get back into our normal every 2nd and 4th Friday Beef/Holstein Feeder Sales however, but from now through the end of May we will resume alternate sales; All Beef one week & All Holstein the next.  Spring has now shown all its Midwestern attributes, as we are now in the full swing of mud season.  Rest assured, soon enough we will dry out, and you will see cattle on green grass on your travels around the country.  The market Friday steady/strong throughout, however some areas we saw an increase compared to the week prior.

On the Holstein end, we continue to see these light cattle rise, as buyers are starting to accumulate cattle for grass (both Beef and Holstein). The heavy Holstein cattle (750 plus) showed its strength again this week, as we had a Fancy load of 1,002 # steers bring $92.00. The light cattle the past few weeks has started that climb in the positive direction, and we were a little stronger yet Friday; as we have seen a stagnant market for quite some time.

Regarding the Beef Feeders sold Friday, the market was steady and a tick stronger in a few areas, mostly being the 550#-700# cattle.  The cattle sub 500# are started to slow on numbers, as it typically does this time of year.  The 725# cattle and up were steady market wise.  We still look for this consistency to remain as we approach May, and quite possibly we will continue on this gradual upward trend, especially knocking on grass season door, and buyers are starting to gather these calves up for grass.  The demand remained high, but most especially for the weaned cattle with vaccinations, and carry that nice medium/green flesh.  We once again thank you all for your hard work, dedication, and putting your trust in us to market your livestock.  Here is a look at our upcoming sales.
